William Shatner is boldly taking astronomy, especially the unnamed and newly discovered P4 and P5 moons of Jupiter, where they have never gone before.   Shatner temporarily interrupted his campaign to get featured in the next Star Trek or Star Wars movies to organize trekkies everywhere to write in Vulcan as one of the many names to be considered by SETI (The Search for Extraterrestrial Life folks) for submission to the International Astronomical Association for official planetary rumination.  With less than a week to vote (you can vote here) Vulcan is the undisputed front-runner.  But don’t hold your breath that IAA will give Vulcan a fair shake since that will break with the tradition of naming planets after Greek mythological features and Vulcan is a Roman god of fire.  As Spock  would note, it simply goes against traditional logic.
