First Trailers for Frances Ha, Stories We Tell and A Resurrection

The first trailer for director  Noah Baumbach’s (The Squid and the Whale) upcoming comedy Frances Ha has been released online.  The film  is described as “a modern comic fable” and stars Greta Gerwig as the titular character.  A straight plot is unclear, but the film looks to follow the exploits of Frances as she meanders her way through late 20s irresponsibility, juggling friendships, love, and everything in between while living in New York City.   Written by Baumbach and Gerwig, the film also stars Mickey Summer, Adam Driver, Michael Zegen, and Patrick HeusingerFrances Ha opens on May 17th.

Roadside Attractions has released the trailer and poster for Sarah Polley‘s terrific documentary,  Stories We Tell.  In the film, Polley pieces together interviews from her family as she tries to learn about her deceased mother and the affair that resulted in Polley’s search for her biological father.   Stories We Tell  opens in New York on May 10th and in select cities on May 17th.

A Resurrectionfollows the dark path of troubled teenager Eli Driggs (J. Michael Trautmann), a high school student struggling with the recent death of his older brother, Devon (Patrick de Ledebur), at the hands of some of his own classmates. The school psychologist (Mischa Barton) tries to help Eli come to terms with the tragedy, though the young man is becoming more sullen and withdrawn … and entertaining the idea that his brother might be coming back from the grave to seek revenge.
