The luminous beauty of Audrey Tautou makes Michel Gondry’s new film Mood Indigo (L’e’cume des Jours) a must see.  Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind still is one of my favorite films while The Science of Sleep is one of my host hated.  Both were directed by Gondry.  Mood Indigo looks like it will be ending up on the wonderful magical realist side of my taste and not the portentous dream imagery nonsense.

Mood Indigo takes place in a surreal alternate reality, where Colin (Romain Duris) – the wealthy young inventor of “the cocktail-mixing piano” – falls in love with the woman named Chloe (Audrey Tautou), who is “the incarnation of a Duke Ellington tune.” However, after their wedding, Chloe becomes terribly sick due to a water lily that is growing inside her lung; thus, Colin’s commitment and creative spark is put to the test, in order for him to save his sweetheart’s life.

The Mood Indigo cast includes Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Gad Elmaleh (Midnight in Paris); meanwhile, the script was written by Luc Bossi (The Prey) based on the international best-selling novel written by Boris Vian.

When the moors turn into gnarly woods when driving the English countryside terror and mayhem will come.  In Fear stars Alice Englert and Iain De Caestecker as the couple whos music fest hopes turn into a horror fest when they encounter creepy happenings and scary voices singing french ditties over the soundtrack.  Suffice it to say that the couple will get very muddy and very scared.
