Despicable Me 2: More and more evil minnions!

Posted: July 8, 2013 in Movies

Despicable Me 2 knows that the audience wants minions: big ones, little ones, young ones, yellow ones, purple ones, good ones, evil ones, funny ones, slow ones, minions, minions and more minions with some Gru and romance thrown in too! No scene exists without at least one minion because where the minions are there is the funny.   I wish they would publish a dictionary of minionese cause I suspect there are not so nice English words flipping through in the high-speed chirpy chatter. Sure,  Gru and the little girls appear and there is a red-headed lithe slip ( voiced with impeccable hyper optimistic cheeriness by Kristen Wiig ) for I love Lucy romance and future family motherhood for the Gru-some clan, but it is the minion who supply both the good, the bad and ugly here, because the directors Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud don’t have the heart to make Gru too despicable or the villain too dastardly.   This is light animated fluff content to produce smiles and romance  mixed with  just enough rude humor and mild action to earn a PG rating to force parental attendance.  Big box office always means holding the parents hostage.  Despicable Me 2 gets a B+.
