Cockneys Vs Zombies: Artifical Limbs and Big Bullets Save the Day!

Posted: August 5, 2013 in Movies

Not surprisingly,  old and young Cockneys coming together to battle their zombie-fied East London brethren is the truth in Cockneys Vs Zombies, about a group of dim bank robbers, their hostages and  some resourceful seniors in an old-age home who get out the firepower and start working on the undead.   When you’re old and the zombie apocalypse comes, having a few artificial arms and legs that can be discarded for zombie toy chews is a definite plus.  Among the seniors enduring the onslaught are the cantankerous Alan Ford, Richard Briers and Honor Blackman who played Pussy Galore in Goldfinger– all game and ready to kill,  in the old grand  and high style without the zzz-inducing somberness of World War Z.  CVZ is guns, blood, guts and pratfall basic where dead babies, dead footballers battle each other in rivalries that go beyond death, and one weirdly great Undead Anthem (stick around to the end credits to hear it)  get all the play.   Sure Shaun of the Dead was better, but it had a bigger budget and a better cast, but as an interlude before The World’s End comes out, it will do.  Cockneys Vs Zombies gets a B.
