The latest Ender’sGame recruiting sheets give off a Starfleet feel.

From under the cry of “It’s Us or Them,” exist the burning embers of an International Fleet star-fighter, its disc shape echoing the Starfleet design shredded of its wings and body.    “The Next Invasion Is Imminent” is declared stark, bold and gray– showing the flotsam of what happens when the world tries to play touchy-feely with those who don’t believe in that game.   What would be a Trek nightmare is a rallying point for a whole new world that needs a better militaristic design.

What better way to show the paranoia of Orson Scott Card’s conservative vision than by destroying the icons of a liberal future.

This International Fleet recruiting poster shows cadets marching in lock step, something that would never be shown in a Starfleet Academy poster.  This is definitely a different world, ready to fight first and talk later.

plush_ver2It is easy to see why this poster for Plush got buried in the marketing campaign.

The two lovers embracing in the water make it seem like a teen romance rather than a stalker horror film.

Whatever  Twi-heart appeal gained by casting second tier Twilight star Xavier Samuel(and also Cam Gigadent) would  be killed once the fans realized Xavier was the villain.

The tag line “They Got too Close too Fast”, echoes the plot for the first two Twilight movies.  The fan base would just reject the whole movie, because it can’t follow through on its romantic promise

Plush, if anything,  is an anti-Twilight.   The poster doesn’t show that.   Fans would easily see through its pretender pose.

The latest Dallas Buyers Club poster is a clear, open arms, big sky and big city delight compared to the blurry original that had Matthew McConaughey push a “Dare to Live” pill in his hand.

For a man suffering the late ravages of AIDS, McConaughey looks curiously buffed up.

This is the dream state delusional version of the first sheet, filled with the euphoria of drug fed wish fulfillment.

It is easy to dare to live when you dare to smile.  And who can smile more deceptively than Matt C?
