A Diverting Poster Featuring Shailene Woodley and Theo James

Summit Entertainment has released the first posters for Divergent featuring Shailene Woodley and Theo James.

The sci-fi/fantasy thriller based on the novel by Veronica Roth is about a society that segregates people into factions based on where they fit in on five personality types:  Bravery, Selflessness, Honesty, Intelligence, and Peacefulness.  Tris (Woodley) doesn’t easily fit into any one of these types and being “Divergent” is seen as a threat by the ruling government.

The featurette below explains the world of Divergent for the uninitiated.

The three crows on Shailene Woodley’s neck highlight her character Tris divergent status, her individuality and memories of the family she left behind when she became a part of the anti-government army known as ‘the dauntless”.

“I touch my collarbone, marking the path of their flight, toward my heart,” she says in the bestselling novel by Veronica Roth. “One for each member of the family I left behind.”‘

Tris was born into the Abnegation faction but clearly displays the selflessness and bravery that makes her a threat.

Of course, the tattoos aren’t real.  Woodley is so into the natural lifestyle that she makes her own toothpaste from scratch.

“I do not have any tattoos. I don’t think that would happen, but I do love them,” she told Yahoo Movies, pointing to the trio of birds. “They’re great for now.”

Summit also has a campaign going on that encourages fans to talk about their divergent streak by sharing what makes them different.  Fans are encouraged to submit photos of what traits, talents or physical features makes them unique.   Click here  to be taken to the Official Website and submit your entry.
