Captain America: The Winter Soldier Gets Five Nice Posters

79028There are sure signs that Marvel and Disney are seeing big things for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Disney is spending big bucks for several Super Bowl Commercials.  The early cut of Winter Soldier wowed studio suits enough to green-light a Captain America 3 with brothers Anthony and Joe Russo returning to direct and several top level Marvel scribes rumored to be cobbling together a screenplay.   Kevin Feige is also returning as Producer.

Marvel and Disney also released five nice character posters.   The group poster has an Avengers vibe (above).

Samuel L’s and ScarJo’s catwalk  poses are an odd distraction.  Scar Jo’s hair flip and overly vibrant locks looks like she’s still in character from her last shampoo commercial.  And Samuel L looks like he is modeling the latest London Fog rain gear.  That pissed off look is probably because Benedict Cumberbatch wants his Sherlock overcoat back.   captain_america_the_winter_soldier_ver6 The two Captain America sheets have a pensive Chris Evan with his head bowed, and looking almost like an angel from Wim Wenders Wings of Desire.  Never thought I see a classic foreign film reference in a Marvel poster.

Changes from the last edition of Caps costume include no ear coverings on the helmet and the almost total absence of red, even on the shield.

This new Cap adventure is described as a political thriller.  In tone it is Shakespearean with strong hints of Hamlet.  The basic plot has Steve Roger (Chris Evans) struggling to embrace his role in the modern world and battling a new threat from old history:  the Soviet Agent known as the Winter Soldier.
