Still, there are those who dream big as in the case of 17-year-old Tumblr user Nora (no last name given). Nora’s Hijab Heroines are not only expressions of her secret artistic identities but extensions of her culture and religious ethos. You see, Nora is a young and deeply deeply devoted Muslim woman. The wearing of a hijab is as much a part of who she is as is breathing and eating is necessary for sustaining life.
The drawings are Nora’s tentative offerings in Tumblr’s draw yourself challenge, which asked their users to draw themselves as their favorite pop icon(s). Her inner superhero is mostly male with the lone exception of of a super confident Black Widow.
