Disney Princesses Meet Their Death!

Posted: February 6, 2015 in Movies

Death comes for everyone, even Disney Princesses. Death is the unhappy moment just before one comes to the Happily Ever After, or not. It all depends on your religious view. For me, I am a happy believer in the Happy Ever After.

In the movies death’s most seen face is as a serial killer, often with some supernatural power. Freddie Krueger, Jason Vorhees, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Joker, Hannibal Lecter, Alex DeLarge from a Clockwork Orange and Michael Myers all boil down to spelling D-E-A-T-H.

The great preponderance of Disney Princesses raised in single parent households makes death an ever present sub-theme of their Magic Kingdom.

The classic Disney Princess could only overcome EVIL with the help of her ever loving Prince. She can only be truly happy until her Prince has come, both literally and sexually. Marriage and its sexual content that leads to the birth of children and the creation of the family unit, not only vanishes evil but lifts the whole kingdom beyond the reaches of DEATH.

The modern Disney Princess (Merida from Brave and Anna from Frozen being the prime examples) replaces the Prince with self-reliance and a big boost of courage. Overcoming their mortality, and not leaving their fate in the hands of some third party Prince allows the modern Disney Princess to achieve not only Kingly responsibility and wisdom but also some measure of immortality.

That is probably why Mexican digital artist José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros leaves out the modern Disney Princess in his Disney characters meet Evil Serial Killers series. The self-reliant heroine is the ultimate killer of the killers in almost all horror series.

Ontiveros has made a name for himself by putting Disney characters in lots of non-Disney situations.

One of his series had Disney Characters Remixed With Historic Artworks In Profane Situations. See it here.

Another shows the result of When Disney Characters Meet Fame and Horror. See it here.
